Our Learning Days offer home-educated children the opportunity to explore, investigate and learn through hands-on experiences in our working farm and woodland.

Each session has a different educational theme, bringing subjects such as science, nature, animal behaviour, farming, geography and sustainability to life. From investigating the fascinating world of sheep and wool to discovering mini-beasts, exploring woodland habitats and learning about the incredible sense of smell in working dogs, there is plenty to spark curiosity.

Rather than sitting in a classroom, children are encouraged to get involved, ask questions, experiment, solve problems and discover things for themselves.

What to expect

  • A different educational theme at each session.

  • Practical activities, investigations and outdoor exploration.

  • Opportunities to learn about our farm animals, working dogs and natural environment.

  • Small, friendly groups with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and get involved.

  • A take-home activity or learning resource to continue exploring.

Who are they for?

Our Learning Days are aimed primarily at primary-school-aged children who are home educated. We recognise that age doesn't always reflect a child's interests, abilities or stage of development, so if you're unsure whether a session would be suitable, please get in touch.

Parent-inclusive sessions

These are not drop-off sessions. A parent or responsible adult must remain with their child throughout and is encouraged to take part in the experience alongside them.

Inclusive outdoor learning

Our sessions are designed to be welcoming and SEN-inclusive. We recognise that children learn and communicate in different ways, so we aim to offer flexible, low-pressure opportunities to participate. Children can learn through observing, doing, talking, creating or simply taking time to explore.

Please note that sessions take place around our working farm and woodland, involving uneven ground and outdoor terrain. Not all areas or activities are wheelchair accessible. If you have specific access requirements, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the session and what may be possible.

Small groups, real experiences and plenty of opportunities to discover something new.
