At the heart of Penthwell Farm is a commitment to ethical, sustainable farming and exceptional flavour. We don't breed for volume; we breed for flavour. Rather than focusing on maximum yield or excessive fat content, we carefully raise traditional British breeds chosen for their eating quality, character, and connection to the landscape.
Our flock consists of Ryeland and Kerry Hill sheep, two heritage breeds celebrated for producing lamb with outstanding flavour. Ryeland lamb is prized for its fine texture, natural tenderness, and rich, delicate taste, while Kerry Hill lamb offers a slightly sweeter, refined flavour with excellent eating quality. These slower-growing breeds develop naturally on grass, creating meat with depth of flavour that cannot be rushed.
Our sheep spend their lives grazing rich pasture, roaming freely and living as sheep should. This low-input, pasture-based system promotes animal welfare, supports biodiversity, and allows the unique qualities of each breed to shine through in the finished product.
With every lamb box, you know exactly where your meat comes from and how it has been produced. We believe traceability matters, giving our customers confidence that their lamb has been raised with great care and the highest standards of animal welfare from birth to harvest.
Every lamb in our boxes has been raised and selected by Rob, a chef with deep roots in the British hospitality industry. Having risen through the ranks of some of the country's finest pub and restaurant kitchens, Rob earned recognition for his passion, skill, and dedication to flavour, culminating in the Pub Restaurant Chef Award from the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs — an accolade reserved for those who demonstrate outstanding creativity and craftsmanship in British cuisine.

Once selected, every lamb is professionally butchered and vacuum packed by Densham's Butchers, a trusted local family-run business that shares our values. Their expertise ensures every cut arrives perfectly prepared, ready for your kitchen and worthy of the care that has gone into raising it.
